This Privacy Policy explains how Kanana Ltd. (“Kanana,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, stores, and manages personal information and other data in connection with the Ponics app and related services.
By creating an account, accessing, or using Ponics, you acknowledge this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with it, do not use Ponics.
1. Who we are
Ponics is a hydroponic growing app provided by Kanana Ltd.

2. What this policy covers
This Privacy Policy applies to information we collect through:
- the Ponics app
- related websites or web tools we operate
- support communications with us
- community and help features connected to Ponics
- other interactions directly connected to Ponics
It does not apply to third-party products, services, apps, websites, payment processors, or hydroponic systems that Ponics may reference, connect with, or support, except as described in this Privacy Policy for service providers and communication platforms used to deliver Ponics features.
3. Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information.
a. Account information
This may include:
- name or display name
- email address
- sign-in method
- account preferences
- account verification status
b. Grow and setup information
This may include:
- hydroponic system type
- setup details
- plant selections
- nutrient selections
- water source information
- reservoir and grow configuration details
c. Measurements, logs, app inputs, and images
This may include:
- pH, EC, TDS, temperature, water level, and similar readings
- nutrient calculations and dose history
- grow logs, notes, and history
- changes you make to setup or crop information
- data you enter to receive recommendations
- photos or images you upload at the plant, system, or grow-space level
d. Community submissions and conversation history
If you use Ponics community or help features, this may include:
- questions you submit
- text, images, and attachments you share through those features
- replies from Ponics staff, moderators, authorized helpers, or other users where that functionality is enabled
- thread history and follow-up conversation over time
- internal identifiers used to route the conversation back to your Ponics account
e. Usage and device information
This may include:
- device type
- operating system
- app version
- language or region settings
- crash reports
- feature usage data
- event and session data
- diagnostic information
f. Support and communication information
This may include:
- emails or messages you send to us
- support requests
- feedback submissions
- survey responses
- troubleshooting submissions
g. Purchase and subscription information
If you purchase a subscription through Apple, Google, or another platform, we may receive limited information about the transaction or subscription status, such as:
- subscription state
- product tier
- renewal or expiry status
- platform transaction identifiers
We do not receive your full payment card details from app store purchases.
4. How we collect information
We collect information:
- directly from you when you create an account, complete onboarding, enter measurements, upload photos, submit community questions, or contact us
- automatically through your use of the app and related services
- from service providers that help us operate the app
- from app store or platform partners when needed to confirm subscription or account status
5. How we use information
We use information for the following purposes.
a. To provide the app
For example, to:
- create and manage your account
- save your setups, logs, images, and dose history
- generate nutrient and reservoir recommendations
- support syncing, subscriptions, and core app functionality
If you upload photos or images, we may use them to store grow records, support app features, and help with troubleshooting or support.
b. To provide community and help features
For example, to:
- receive and route questions, photos, and updates you submit
- allow staff, moderators, or authorized helpers to review and respond
- maintain thread continuity over time
- support any user-controlled sharing choices within Ponics community features
- moderate discussions, investigate misuse, and protect user safety
By default, community interactions may be anonymized at the community level while still being linkable to your Ponics account internally by Kanana for support, moderation, safety, continuity, and product operations.
c. To improve Ponics
For example, to:
- understand how growers use the app
- improve workflows, performance, and feature design
- refine recommendation quality over time
- identify bugs, errors, and reliability issues
- better understand real-world growing conditions across systems, plants, nutrients, and environments
d. To provide support and communicate with you
For example, to:
- respond to support requests
- send account or service notices
- help troubleshoot issues
- notify you about important changes to the app, Terms of Use, or this Privacy Policy
e. To maintain security and integrity
For example, to:
- detect misuse, abuse, or fraud
- monitor for technical problems
- protect accounts and app infrastructure
- enforce our Terms of Use
- support moderation and community-safety workflows
f. To comply with legal obligations
For example, to:
- comply with applicable laws and lawful requests
- maintain business records
- resolve disputes
- protect our rights, users, and services
g. To send optional updates or marketing
If permitted by law, we may send updates about Ponics, new features, promotions, or related announcements. You can opt out of marketing communications where required.
6. How we share information
We do not sell or rent your personal information.
We may share information in the following situations.
a. Service providers and communication platforms
We may share information with service providers who help us operate Ponics, such as providers for:
- cloud hosting and storage
- analytics
- authentication
- customer support
- subscriptions
- communications
- diagnostics
- community and moderation workflows
These may include Google services and Amazon Web Services (AWS). We may also use Google Analytics or related Google analytics services to understand usage, measure performance, and improve Ponics.
To deliver community and help features, Ponics may also use third-party communication platforms and service providers, including Discord. Community submissions, images, and replies may be transmitted through those services as part of providing the feature.
These providers may access information only as needed to provide services to us, subject to contractual or legal restrictions where applicable.
b. Legal and safety reasons
We may disclose information if we believe it is reasonably necessary to:
- comply with law or legal process
- respond to lawful requests from public authorities
- enforce our Terms of Use
- investigate fraud, abuse, harassment, or security issues
- protect the rights, safety, property, or users of Kanana, Ponics, or others
c. Business transfers
If Kanana is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, sale of assets, or similar transaction, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law.
d. With your direction or sharing choices
We may share information when you ask us to, direct us to, or clearly consent to sharing.
If a Ponics community feature allows you to make a conversation available more broadly to other Ponics community members, we may share that content according to the choice you make in the feature.
7. How Ponics uses grow data
Ponics uses grow-related information to:
- generate recommendations and records for your account
- improve workflows, defaults, and recommendation quality over time
- understand how setups perform across different conditions
- identify bugs, edge cases, and areas where the product needs refinement
Where practical, we limit the use of directly identifying information in broader product analysis.
8. Data retention
We retain account information, grow history, logs, uploaded images, community submissions, thread history, and related app data for as long as your account remains active, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.
If you delete your account, we will delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, except where retention is required or permitted for legal compliance, security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, moderation records, or similar legitimate business purposes.
Some limited backup or archived copies may persist for a reasonable period before being deleted.
9. Data security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to help protect information.
However, no method of transmission, storage, or security is completely guaranteed. This means we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:
- access certain personal information we hold about you
- correct inaccurate information
- request deletion of your information
- withdraw certain consents, where consent is the legal basis for processing
- opt out of marketing communications

11. Children and minimum age
Ponics is not intended for children under the age of 13.
If you are under the age required in your jurisdiction to provide valid consent to the collection, use, or processing of your personal information, you should use Ponics only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian, where permitted by applicable law.
We do not knowingly direct Ponics to children under 13 or knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without any consent required by applicable law. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us in a way that does not comply with applicable law, contact us and we will review the situation.
12. International use
Ponics may be accessed from different regions. By using the app, you understand that your information may be processed in the countries where we or our service providers operate, subject to applicable law.
13. Third-party services and links
Ponics may reference or connect with third-party systems, products, services, or websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. Please review their privacy policies separately.
14. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
If we make material changes, we may provide notice in the app, by email, or by other reasonable means. The updated version will include a revised “Last updated” date.
